Mile stone
« on: June 11, 2016, 16:16:37 »
My next drive will take me to 10,000 miles since I bought my 1966 230 SL.  (Started at 56298)  Thanks to all the info I read on this site I have been able to get the car in good running condition and keep it there.  I have met a lot of nice people and made some new friends along the way.  Three trips to PUB were great times also.  Still driving and having fun.  I hope to see some of you along the way this summer.

Ten thousand is quite a stretch Brad,  congratulations also and still wishing you many more trails.

In July I shall venture a trip down into your neck of the woods to the Deutsche Classic in Oley, PA. I know you are around a 4 hour drive west from Oley, PA. Should you go and spot a blue 280SL give me a wave or stop by and let's have a chat. As John said its about driving our cars also it's about people we meet on this fine site and the stories we share.

Happy trails always.

Dieter

PS. I look forward to explore the roads again in your fine State, my last time along those roads was in the 70s when I lived in Montreal, Que. I also look forward to taste again the fine pancakes along the way :)

Brad & Dieter:  I too plan to visit the Deutsch Classic in Oley PA, though not driving the SL this time.  Should we plan a regional get-together?  Jon

I went to the Deutsche Classic a few years ago.  Unfortunately I have to work this year.  I will go to the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (July 16-17 this year) since it is closer.  There are about 2000 cars of all types.

Jon,

All depending on the weather I will take my DD or the Pagode. I will send you a PM with my cell number so you can contact me. I know of another member that will be there.

Brad, sorry you cannot make it.

I'm only about 10 miles from the Deutsche Classic in Oley PA, and have been going for the last 6 years. Great show for German make cars. Usually about 40 MB's, with 5 or more W113's. If you see my Pagoda Group sticker on the windshield say hi.

Just to confirm Brad was at the Deutsche Classic car show in 2014. In the picture Brad is on the right, Bob Platz in the light blue shirt, and me holding a newly acquired trophy.

Looking forward to seeing some of you this year in Oley, PA.
