New brake booster
« on: July 09, 2016, 14:27:29 »
I am wandering if there is someone who can answere this:
I have just bought a new brake booster, a reproduction, from mbclassics.de.
In the picture it is all metallish, no paint, and very shiny blank. Is that a problem. Do I have to paint it with som anti-corrosion, or are they usually black for the look of it. And what kind of metall is used?

Also on a 230SL.  I believe they are semi gloss black on all cars.  I've never seen any other colour.

No, I think all originals (ATE) are black. But mine is not woring, so I had to get a new one. And I have bought an aftermarket which lokks like bare metal. Now Alexander at mbclassics.de assures me that they are galvanized. So then I'happy with that.

If it is indeed galvanized, and you would like to paint it, make sure to pickle it with vinegar first. Just wipe it down. Then use a self etching primer before the black top coat.
