2016 Deutsche Classic Photos

This year I made my way down to Oley, PA it is a Dutch - German area and the Deutsche Classic Car show is held there every year around this time. Only (2) two Pagoda's showed up (including your's truly (As Jeramy Clarkson so often mentioned "I was the first to arrive") I too was the first to arrive after a long drive down from Canada 651 Miles to be exact However I enjoyed every mile and was fortunate to meet several Members of our forum there as well.

The weather this year did not co-operate unfortunately (I understand last year 8 Pagoda's were there at the car show). Nevertheless even with the light rain here and then and a good downpoor during the award ceromony it was great fun for one and all.

This was the 12th time the Deutsche Classic was heald were MB, BMW, Audi and VW cars get together on the same green. This year even a Opel special showed up. Most of us have owned several of the aforementioned makes (my first new car was a VW, followed by BMW's then Mercedes as I was able to afford them later in life). Even wet our cars look good so in-between the rain drops I took some photos that I like to share with you here.

A Opel that catches my eye, I wonder how long that shiney engine will stay that way

Every year a local craftsman in co-operation with the show organizers hand makes the awards for the different car categories. I took some photos to give you a taste, I think it is unique. I received The "Furthest Driven" that will find a place in my garage once I complete my garage makeover

On my way home I stopped at Niagara Falls, like I did in 2013. I never get enough of this area, it gets better every time I stop there. It has great memories for me. My first time to visit there was in 1961 with my then used 1953 Oldsmobile. I parked right in front of the Police station (that is the building facing the American Falls very near the red star in the map photo below) and set my portable Hibachi BB up on the green grass in line with the American Falls. Two friendly Police Officers told me that I have to leave, I pretended not to speak English (since I was still learning it) and tried to comunicate with them in Russian since I had to lear it in East Germany. They gave up on me and motioned that I can finish eating my meal, however, then I must leave. LOL

I visited here with both my parents and had a few days of my my honeymoon here in 1961 ... yes somehow it draws me to this place when in the area.

Niagara Falls Photos 3 to 6

If you have never been here I highly recommend it. One tip, the area adds there own intertainment tax, check the bill and ask what is this? then tell them I'm not paying it (you don't have to).
