and then you disappeared from the forum with some odd Ferraris and a Porsche ...

Ahh yes Achim. You have a fantastic memory. Thank you for the kind words about my previous 230. I dearly miss that car. Its one that I actually regret selling. I was honored to be that cars caretaker. However I continued to have a soft spot for any Pagoda. This 1970 I have now was a car that I have maintained for the Doctor who had it for 20+ years. He & I had a great bond over the car & his fine art collection. So much so that I often helped fund his art projects that he helped our city get adorned with. When he passed away I assisted his family with direction for the two other later model Mercedes that he had. Those two sedans were donated and are now helping other causes. For the Pagoda though the family wanted me to help place the car. I wrote them a very good valuation for their insurance man and told them I had such an attachment to the car that I would be thrilled to be in line. They thanked me & said that before he past he had made a list of great people in town that could help with things if they ever needed it. And they told me that my name was one of them. That was nice to hear for sure. Then many months later I got an email & we struck a deal. I felt very fortunate.
It has one advantage that my 230 did not... This car can be driven. My 230 was so insanely original that I always felt uneasy about driving the car. It had become unusable within my ownership period. Every stone chip, every seat scuff or hand print on the glass became a nightmare for me. I had too much luv for the original condition to use it. So I felt selling it was appropriate at the time. But I miss it greatly.
However, the 280 is very nice with original interior, a strong engine, lower miles than my 230, and paint that has been redone so I can drive - drive & drive it.
Those other cars you mention are still here too. But I do find that I grab the Pagoda keys very often! Thank you again for the kind note.
Reproduction tanks are now available again from a company called Dansk. They do a lot of Porsche reproductions and I have used their stuff. It is nice and far cheaper than a factory one.
Yes sir Shvegel. I have found that the Dansk is available shortly. My factory contact says that they can get me a OEM version in four days at over a grand. But my aftermarket vendors tell me the Dansk may be several weeks away at just over four hundred. I have ordered Porsche factory parts that show up with a Dansk label attached. I would be tweaked if I order the factory Pagoda tank for over a thou & find that Dansk sticker too! Anyone know if they are one & the same?
