Top Locking Tools
« on: November 11, 2004, 06:31:03 »
In looking at e-bay (this site)  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4501734788&category=42611

I see two top handle tools that are shaped slightly differently than the single tool I have.   Since I'm not sure that what I have is original to my car, can anyone advise as to what the original tools looked like?   A pic would be great.

Thanks,
Chris

These are not original. They are sold more for the W107 as I understand - they DO work though, I bought a set as a spare some time ago. The originals are heavier / thicker material.

I have the pair, which I assumed were original but obviously not.

However, I do use them both to stop any risk of the frame getting warped/not aligning properly as one side is locked down and one side is not

Thanks guys.    I don't have a pic handy since the car is at the shop, but mine seems to have less of a curve to the handle.   Does this sound like the original?

Here's a nice photo of SL accessories, including the original hardtop/soft top tools for a 280SL:

Originals are chrome plated and the 107's are zinc plated.
