At the same time I'm trying to complete the assembly of my car for the trip to PUB, I've decided to eliminate left over stuff and get rid of stuff I'll hopefully never use again. Consequently, I'm putting stuff in a box to bring to PUB to give away.
So far, there are:
o part of a fresh air vent grill with several still useful vanes and the circular rotating vane holder and spring, I bought a used assembly from one of the members here and used one or two of the vanes to repair my original one. This is what's left.
o four 6006 2RS radial bearings for a 230SL (at least) driveshaft intermediate (center) bearing. I had to buy five from a wholesaler and only used one.
o the tool that I made and used to remove and install the torsion rods for the soft top cover and trunk hinges. You can see the tool, along with the procedure I wrote up in the technical manual, in the trunk section. Maybe it could be treated like the hubcap paint stencil and shared with whoever needs it. At any rate, I hope never to need it again.
At my age, once the car is finished, I never plan to work on it again. I'm going to drive it and pay others to repair it, so I'm going to dispose of everything except the most basic tools. I don't have much yet, but I've only just started today.
Between now and PUB, I expect to find a few other Pagoda parts and home made restoration tools to give away at PUB.
If anyone else finds Pagoda stuff to get rid of that isn't worth the effort of selling or the cost of shipping, but too valuable to scrap, maybe you can bring it along and we can set up a table of "FREEBIES" at PUB.
