Adjusting windows
« on: December 31, 2016, 17:27:30 »
I need to get some advice---
I am coming near to my restoration and my mechanic and I discussed adjusting windows yesterday.

His recommendation is to adjust the windows more centered around using the hardtop as opposed to adjusting them for use with the canvas top.  Being that I live in NY--he said that, in his opinion, I will be using my hardtop (which I love the look of the hardtop on the car) much more than I think.  He said that driving the car locally with the top down is ok but if I expect to drive long distances then to expect to drive with the hard top or canvas on.  He said that I should expect more wind noise with the canvas than the hard top--

True?
Thoughts?
Happy New Year to All!

Adjusting the windows to the hardtop is the way to go. The fitment never changes. You can always go back and adjust the softtop a bit to fit the windows after you have them set for the hardtop. It will never be perfect as the softtop is constantly changing due to shrinkage and the fact the seals are split in 3 different places. There will always be wind noise. Be carefull when adjusting the glass as it is very easy to take the adjustments too far out of balance and stress the glass to break. Dont test your adjustments by shutting the door with the window up!!!  Sit in the seat and close the doors with windows down and use the crank to roll them up to check for binding or mis-alignment.
