One of our own on Wheeler Dealers TV
« on: January 09, 2017, 17:53:34 »
I apologize if this has been posted already... Bob (BaronYoungman) can be seen 1st at the 26 minute mark working with Mike Brewer wheeling & dealing on a stack of Mercedes-Benz parts as shown here below:

https://youtu.be/Ao3-iHzxjdc?list=PLkv5p1lSwk2SsNBVWICLtCio079y6qR4f

The car they are working on (SEC) comes out great & Bob takes it home for safe-keeping with his Pagoda collection. Its good fun.

That was our Bob??? I just watched this episode yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bob did get a very good deal considering all the (tall) man hours that went into this re-creation. I did wonder whether it was an automatic (most likely yes) where the original AMG SEC would have been a stick, I suppose. But a great car and very enjoyable episode. Also liked how the purchase decision was made by Bob's better half.

Yes that was ME! We also got more screen time  on the Best of Part 2 episode ( played in USA 2 weeks ago) with some more build time and me frightening my wife on the track.  Car is great and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.  The crew along with Mike and Edd are really fun you can tell they enjoy what they do.  Some more pictures from the filming.
P.S. there was a lot of Hollywood magic involved.

Last picture is it in my driveway with the pagoda (I will get better pictures in the spring)

That is so great. I am super envious. Once because your wife is so cool. Secondly because of the car!  8)

Bob and Ariana know how to live !!
They had a "viewing party" in a bar that had TVs all over the place. We were in a section with about 6 TVs all playing the show while we ate fun food and drank. My wife joined too. We had a great time with a bunch of Bob and Ariana's friends and relatives.
At the time of the party, they hadn't seen the "final cut", so there was a lot of anticipation.
You could imagine when Tre, their son, saw his parents on TV.
Lots of fun !!
Thanks Bob.

Bob,  I have watched the show for many years, and I enjoy it. I am curious however, about how much is pure show/acting, and how much is "genuine" events of that which is shown.
Perhaps you can comment, re: the "magic" you mention!
For instance, is Edd really working on the cars, or is there a crew of mechanics actually doing the tasks and Edd steps in now and then in to handle the tools in front of the camera(?).
Are the cars bought in in advance, before the show, and the "dealing" we viewers see with the owners (and buyers) is acted out just for the filming?  Inquiring minds want to know, he he

A real joy to see Bob and Ari together with the WW guys. Congrats to a great deal! I also wonder the same as Hans - how much and what magic behind the scenes? And, can we expect that Mike and Ed will turnover a Pagoda in the future?

Johan, it is funny when you were at my garage after PUB 2015 all those parts that were used on the show were in storage up top in the rafters, I never showed them to you or talked about them on the drive because they were not pagoda stuff and I thought I was still years off from getting to that project!

Awesome.

My guess is that, these days, there is more magic than in the early years, when I am guessing Edd and Mike really did do the bulk of the work themselves. Only once in a while Paul would 'give us a hand'. Now, with the show being more 'produced', they probably have more happening in the background.

That is indeed a heck of a deal! And Bob owes a cruise to Ariana!

The show is well documented on AMG specs. Missing the four pot front calipers, made of unobtainium. As mentioned by Cees, the car now needs an AMG manual transmission, the same I have on my car:
