Hood rod holder!

Hi Guys,
I have this little piece on my hood and thought that it can be a hood rod holder.
Could somebody please confirm? I've never seen in any post a piece like this... Just checking if I need to buy the S hook to install it.

Never seen anything like that! The hole it went through is what I have seen used for the S clip to hold the rod in place for removal of the hood. It does appear that it would be there to allow easier hook up of the S clip??

HI Johnny this is what I think. I'll remove the hood today and see if the part can help to hold the rod.
