Help in ID of this sensor - poor wire condition
« on: February 01, 2017, 15:49:38 »
I'd like some help in identifying this sensor/sending unit that sits on top of the thermostat on a 71 280 SL. As you should be able to see, the wiring coming from the sending unit is in poor shape and I want to go ahead and replace or rewire this before it breaks.  The sending unit is separate from the thermostat itself and I assume it can be purchased as a separate unit I'm must wondering how the wiring is handled.

Thanks for the replay, yes that's it.  As I've just replaced the old distributor with a 123 and disconnected the ignition module under the battery, it seems I don't need to worry about the condition of this wiring connection.  The car runs much better with the 123.
