door strikers
« on: February 17, 2017, 15:49:25 »
Hi all. Thank you for all of your help in the past.  My latest issue is with my door strikers. I have read all previous postings on this issue, but the info I need was not there.  Below are two pictures of the left side striker currently on my 1966 230 sl.

I want to replace this damaged one.  The right side one is in good condition. Apparently these 4 hole strikers are a replacement for the original three hole striker. I have two viable options:
1) Buy a new or used one.  Miller’s lists this item, but it is not currently available, and I have not been able to find another source. New or used.  Regarding this option, does anyone know if the brass and rubber insert can be removed, of if a new set can be purchased.  If I go this route I would like to have them chrome plated.  This question was asked before in a previous posting, but no one answered!

I can't get images to insert or attach. Can someone help me with this?

2) I would prefer to replace both strikers with the later one piece style pictured below.  Does anyone know if this style would be compatible with the latch mechanism associated with my current striker?
And again, does anyone know if the rubber insert is removable or replaceable for chrome plating?

Thanks,
John Micciche

Was just about to post the s-l-s link but Achim beat me to it.
No they are not interchangable. Not only are the mounting dimensions different but the latch/lock on the door has a different latching cam design.
This is the one you want.

Thanks, but they don't seem to be available from SLS either.
