replace Trunk Mat?
« on: March 05, 2017, 23:01:09 »
The original trunk mat has become brittle. Tom Hanson tells me they are out of stock and are trying to have more manufactured. It is not a big deal, the original mat still looks pretty good but it is broken in places. Because it lays flat, the breaks are not readily visible but I would like to replace it. The car is in "concours condition" and I am concerned that, if I replace the mat with a grey carpet, points will be deducted. Your comments and opinions would be very much appreciated.

It can be frustrating when you want to change/improve something and its not available.
I would leave your existing mat in place for the time being and see if they become available again.
Or look for a repro. They are still out there but harder to find now.

Ouch!
This only cost me 70 euros from MB in 2015. I hope you can find one out there cheaper than the ebay sharks...

Be patient. They pop-up regularly for about $200 USD on ebay. I have not seen them for less anywhere else, so maybe worth waiting a few days and frequently check new listings for w113.

Buds Benz still lists one on their site, as does Authentic Classics (~$400! - they do usually offer the group a discount 10% I think). Benz Restorer has a listing but also "Not available".

It looks as if Authentic Classics has them (oe) back in stock. Which means they may be availabe again at the classic center or dealer?

Hi Tyler,

The large rear mat is not currently available from Mercedes so Authentic Classics must have some old stock.

Jack, was just curious as Authentic Classics was out of stock about a month ago. Wonder where he got em.

Tyler,

I am sure George has feelers everywhere as he seems to come up with some unique NLA parts. I happen to have 2 of these mats but do not want to sell them.
