Vehicle weight
« on: April 03, 2017, 00:18:13 »
What is the actual weight of our cars?  My 250 sl has the weights printed on the vin badge on the drivers door jamb. Do these cars weigh around 3800 pounds? Mine says 3780  pounds.  That seems heavy for a car this size.

That sounds like loaded weight.  I have always read that the cars run from 2,900 (230sl)  to 3,000 lbs (280 sl) plus extra for the soft top which feels like 200 lbs but actually only 110 lbs

I assume things like power steering and air conditioning would increase weight.

Do you mind if I make just a very small correction? "soft top" should read: "hard top" Just being picky.
