What is this FI part (and why is it leaking?)

I've got my friends 230sl running driving and stopping after replacing the hydraulic clutch master and slave, bleeding the brakes, cleaning the tank and fixing some bad plumbing at the pump (and running a new fuel line).  It also needed plugs and wires before it would take power. 

Now it runs like a champ except- this part in this part is dripping raw fuel at a steady rate when the pump is on!   I see a lot of FI info online but I just don't see this part.  Can someone tell me what it is so I can read more about it?  Also if it's a common source of leaking I'm grateful for any sage advice- thank you!  The screwdriver is pointing to the area.

That is the oil filling cap for the IP. The 230SL has is a separate lubrication in the IP. The dip stick is found on the back of the IP.

Check the oil level in the FIP, it will most like be overfilled, diluted with fuel.
Sounds like you have an internal leak in the FIP causing the oil reservoir to overfill.
Not good in the long run for the FIP as you can imagine.
The pump might be due for a rebuild/repair.

Thank you so much for the reply!  I don't want to burn the pump up!  I'll check the level after dinner and report back.  I guess I can "change the oil" in the FIP and get rid of the super-diluted mix but I have a feeling the fuel intrusion is going to be rapid (based on the steady drip!); I'm assuming there's a drain plug...

There is no drain plug. There is a threaded dip stick on the rear of the pump about 3/4 down. Looks like a large slotted screw. You can remove that to rid most of the contents and then use a turkey baster with a small hose attached to get rid of the rest.
Changing the oil is a start but as stated the pump will most likely need to be rebuilt. One other thing to check is the fuel pressure and return line. Too high a fuel pressure can cause an issue.

Thank you Tyler! As an aside I learned to drive a stick shift on a 53 Ford- the last of the flathead v8's!  It was the mid nineties and I was in my early teens- your truck sounds awesome!
