Master cylinder very small leak
« on: June 12, 2017, 02:24:16 »
Hello,
I noticed that the brake fluid level drops very slowly. I could not find any leak or even some wetness anywhere on the calipers or lines. It probably dropped an ounce in a year. The level was at the max. line a year ago (first picture).
I found this faint, almost dry trace right under the master cylinder which I believe to be the leak source (second picture). However the BBB shows on the Gen3 master a leak port (B) which appears to be there just for that. I did replace the primary piston and all gaskets on the master 2 years ago.
Is this normal?

Remember that as the pads wear, the fluid level will drop.  This is normal.

As stated by others, could be just normal pad wear or the master cylinder could be leaking into the brake booster, hence no external leaks visible.

I would think that very well could be just normal pad wear and subsequent drop in fluid as has been stated.

Maybe someone who uses their Pagoda that much can give some insight as to how long the pads last on these cars. I do good to put 500 miles a year on my W111. Kudos to you for driving it that much!
