Ouh, ouh .....
Hello Jaguar friend
(what do you want with Mercedesses there? Merc's and Jag's exclude each other .... ),As to your question,
there is something mal-connected on your car.
Go see the Wiki and the wiring diagram sections therein:
https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/Starthttps://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/WiringDiagramThere are also colored wiring diagrams, but only accessible for full members ...
However, you can also work with the black&white one.
The pink wires in your picture should not go to the magnet for mixture control (= solenoid) on the fuel injection pump. Instead, these should go to the thermo time switch on the little water block on the left side of the cylinder head.
The magnet=solenoid on the fuel injection pump should have two wires: a black one with pink stripe going to the one terminal and a brown ground wire (brown is always ground on MB (and German) passenger cars). However, your second wire is black and even soldered to the magnet. That's odd, that's even worse: absolutely not correct !
Your pink wire with the blue shoe (attached to the magnet) should go to "G" on the thermo time switch and the other pink one should not be attached to it but should go independently to the "W" terminal of the thermo time switch.
Instead, the black wire with the pink stripe (2.5 sw/rs = 2.5 square millimeter of diameter, sw = schwarz = black, rs = rosa = pink) should go to this terminal on the magnet.
So, something has heavily been messed up with your wiring for the fuel injection system.
Get familar with the wiring diagram and check accordingly.
Which wires are currently attached to your thermo time switch?
Good luck !
