Electric solenoid problem (injection pump) on 280 sl w113
« on: September 07, 2017, 16:10:06 »
Hello
Im new in this forum.I have difficulties with electric solenoid on injection pump. When i checked the solenoid on 12 v battery it works , but when i install it in injection pump there are two wires. When i connect them it doesn't work.My pump has only one solenoid on top.
As i know the cold start valve solenoid and injection pump solenoid work together at the same time. When i connect check light on solenoid and crank the motor power comes to solenoid but it won't work. i don't know how can i repair this.

Thanks for help

Ouh, ouh ..... :o ??? :P

Hello Jaguar friend ;)
(what do you want with Mercedesses there? Merc's and Jag's exclude each other .... :o),

As to your question,
there is something mal-connected on your car.
Go see the Wiki and the wiring diagram sections therein:

https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/Start
https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/WiringDiagram

There are also colored wiring diagrams, but only accessible for full members ...
However, you can also work with the black&white one.

The pink wires in your picture should not go to the magnet for mixture control (= solenoid) on the fuel injection pump. Instead, these should go  to the thermo time switch on the little water block on the left side of the cylinder head.
The magnet=solenoid on the fuel injection pump should have two wires: a black one with pink stripe going to the one terminal and a brown ground wire (brown is always ground on MB (and German) passenger cars). However, your second wire is black and even soldered to the magnet. That's odd, that's even worse: absolutely not correct !

Your pink wire with the blue shoe (attached to the magnet) should go to "G" on the thermo time switch and the other pink one should not be attached to it but should go independently to the "W" terminal of the thermo time switch.
Instead, the black wire with the pink stripe (2.5 sw/rs = 2.5 square millimeter of diameter, sw = schwarz = black, rs = rosa = pink) should go to this terminal on the magnet.
So, something has heavily been messed up with your wiring for the fuel injection system.

Get familar with the wiring diagram and check accordingly.

Which wires are currently attached to your thermo time switch?

Good luck !

Hello

Thanks for your answers... Now i have two wires on the thermo switch (bild)  black with stripe on W terminal and brown on G terminal. The other two were on solenoid two thiner rose wires(one is repaird and changed with black one).

I was checking 1 sek relais on intake.I was connecting the cheking light with a solenoid on intake and krank the motor but light dont flashes.Any ideas?  I think that 1 second relais works together with solenoid on injection pump.

The Thermo Time Switch gives signal (ground) for the relay that operates the solenoids. Do you get ground on W terminal of the Thermo Time Switch when the enginge is cold? If yes - the problem is elsewhere. If not - the Thermo Time Switch is broken and your solenoids (pump and CSV) will not work.

To check you can also provide ground to the appropriate terminal of the relays and see if they work.

With version three and four starting aids, the injection pump solenoid should activate anytime the starter is engaged, regardless of engine temperature. Check to see if your solenoid gets 12v when the engine is cranked cold.  If not the relay may be defective. Often times the contacts in the relay are dirty. Clean them to fix the problem.
