Need PS Fitting
« on: September 22, 2017, 21:20:37 »
I am looking for the fitting that attaches to the Power Steering Block at the firewall. This is the low pressure side, closest to the firewall, the one that takes a hose clamped on.

Does anyone have such a fitting they could spare, or know of a source?

I'll have to check my car but it looks like it would be a [metric] hydraulic flare fitting. That should probably be easy to find.

Search for "metric hydraulic fittings" and you'll easily find the top suppliers.

Any suggestions of where to look? I have contacted the usual suspects and they don't seem to have it.

Hi Roland,

I finally got to see what it is you are looking for. What you need, of course, is available from Joe Alexander as he indicates he has plenty so that should be your first choice.

If you are trying to replace it, however, what you are looking for would best be described as a "metric angled flare to hose fitting".  Since one end has a hose with hose clamp on it, that makes it a hose fitting. When you see the part that it screws onto on your photo, that makes it a flare. When you consider it to be German, that makes it Metric. And of course, the 90 degree angle...

If you go to your browser search bar and type in "Metric Hydraulic Fittings" a number of companies will pop up. Alternatively if you take both photos--mine with the part attached, yours with the part removed, and go to a local hydraulic specialist they might be able to identify or locate a supplier outside of the Mercedes-Benz parts world.

When I make any company recommendations or suggestions, my posts are generally removed thus I can only speak in generalities I'm afraid.
