Chrome Bumpers
« on: November 20, 2017, 17:32:05 »
I just got my chrome bumpers back from Detray Plating (they look great).
I have a question---do I need to spray the interior side of the bumpers?
If so, what product should I use?
Regards to all

I believe the original bumpers came with a cream coloured spray paint on the inside of the bumpers.  That is what mine had before I had them rechromed.  I just went to the hardward store and looked for a cream coloured rust spray paint and used that.  I took pictures of the colour before rechroming and compared with the new colour and they were almost a match.  If you are after perfection I'm sure someone might have the correct colour code.

Tech Manual mentions the following.

Inside of bumpers: white grey 158. Apparently RUST-OLEUM Painters Touch Ultra Cover 2x Almond Gloss is a good match in color and affords more rust protection (see http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=10791.0)

Did you do both back and front bumpers? May I ask the cost as I'm considering doing the same.

After I posted I went and checked and this is the one I used.
