Mercedes-Benz 230 SL (Pagode W113) Fuel Injection Pump
« on: December 02, 2017, 21:22:17 »
Hi,

As a proud owner of a Mercedes-Benz 230 SL living in Portugal (Europe), I am desperately looking for a restored Bosch fuel injection pump.

The fuel injection pump in my car is not working properly. I tried to fix it by sending it to Germany but in a few weeks the problem returned.  :(

I discovered the PAGODA SL GROUP recently.

Can you please help me?

I thank you in advance for your kind reply,

Carlos

Please provide symptoms of what you car is doing.  It may not be the injection pump.  It may be, but without an explanation its really hard to tell.

you have to start at the begining
all the linkage has to be correct...

We have already checked all possible malfunctions and there is no doubt that the problem is from the fuel injection pump. Two different mechanics from Mercedes-Benz Portugal have certified this diagnostic. The pump was sent to Germany, to a local specialized repairing Bosch pump company but the problem persists. We are now trying to buy a restored pump but we don't know where to go to. I have to add the fact that Mercedes-Benz Portugal classics division is far from being competent and professional regarding this issues...

you can ask these guys if they have the pump
they are dismantlers

Calling that place "dismantlers" is really kind of a step above in my opinion.  I wouldn't buy anything there ever.

Hi Carlos,

There is a company in Massamá, Lisbon specialized in Bosch Fuel Injection Pumps.
I have seen many "old" Bosch Pumps there and they seem to do a great job.
If you want to, I can give the contacts.
Cheers

Dear Carlos,

A local (or more sort of) Bosch service is certainly an advantage...

... however, make sure first that they are trained with our Bosch petrol fuel injection pumps as well. :o

Many of those official Bosch sites are very familiar with the old-style Diesel pumps that do look very similar as our FI pumps - but they aren't ! A service being able to repair the Diesel pumps does not necessarily do a good job on our FI pumps. So, make sure for good references you can talk to in beforehand.

Especially really make sure you went to all of the "Linkage Tour" first presented here on our site. This is absolutely mandatory first! Most, if not even 95% of all problems are made by the periphery of the fuel injection system and not the FI pump!

Good luck & keep us updated !

Carlos,

Did you find anybody to help you? I recently had my pump rebuilt by a specialist in the UK. He is used by a lot of the classic MB restoration companies there for this kind of work.
