Hi,
I am in the process of making tools to measure the ring and pinion gear setup.  In that process I found this chart that applies to the Mercedes Swing axles.  The really important part is the listing of the distance between the pinion head and the center of the ring gear.  The chart is only usefull to a very few people but it allows you to swap gears without the Mercedes tools which are not only hugely expensive but also unavailable.  You still have to make a fixture to do the measurement but those numbers are quite literally the missing link in the process and should be preserved somewhere.
