Queries on heater core and blower motor

Hi all,

I have removed my blower motor and heater core as part of my strip down of my W113.  I have a couple of questions for which I am hoping the forum can help.

How do I strip down the blower motor?  I can see there are what looks like brass nuts on each end of the motor fans but how do I remove these?  Are they simply slid on? 

Also, how can I check the heater core for leaks?  I have filled it up with deionised water but is there a simple way to pressurise it?  I think I can already see a small drip from the open/close valve so will need to see if I can get spares to repair this.

The fans are secured with setscrews on the shafts. The setscrews can be reached thru the fins of the blower wheels with a long allen wretch. The set screws are secured with Loctite or similar. Once the set screws are loosened you can pull off the blower wheels. I would let it soak in some WD40 for a while. Be careful with the balance weights on the blower fins. There are great rebuild instructions on the German pagoda side that I can send you if needed.

Thanks Dirk,

I can see some small threaded holes but doesnt look like there any grub screws in them but I shall have a play tomorrow.  I have sprayed both ends in WD40 to soak overnight.  I would appreciate it if you could send me any rebuild instructions.

Like I said, the instructions are from Peter aka coca-light from the German pagoda group. I am re-doing the blower box as well.

mine is apart right now if you need any specific pictures. I am also planning on new motor bearings.....

Set screw on the hub. The blower wheels are symmetrical with a brass hub on each side so they can be used on either side of the motor. Only the inner hub, the one closest to the motor (and harder to get to) has the set screw. Once the screw breaks loose, you might have to build a little puller to get the wheels of the shaft. My right side came off easy. The left needed a bit more convincing.
