Guys,
I thought that only women get excited about colors of their car. Can't you leave it up to us and get busy with debating about mechanical things like for example the adequate size of the rod? ;D

As long as it a connecting rod, you're on. 8)

I have to pick out a color for my 1965 230sl (early model). Have any one seen a triple Black Pagoda? (exterior, interior & rag top)

Hi Steve

I have a triple black 230SL. But this was not the original colour combination for the exterior & interior (originally burgundy with biscuit interior). I decided to go the black route because it is a rare combination and plus I think that black highlights the profile of the car beautifully, especially contrasting with all the exterior chrome. I have kept the steering wheel & shift knob white as they match nicely with th eoriginal cream sunvisors & lining on the hardtop. But I do have a spare black steering wheel & shift knob !

The black colour sure does seem to get a lot of attention. The only downside is that it is a hard colour to maintain, but I enjoy the weekly detailing ritual !

Here is alink to some pics:  http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=15911.0

Thanks Franjo, it looks like Black is the color. It looks like we started out with the same, basket case. I have posted pic's in the Body Section, under Making Progress.

I think Signal Red is the rarest, followed by white.

Keep in mind, the interior has 150K miles on it (original) and the exterior/underside 60K miles since redone in 1975.  The previous owner took meticulous care of the car while still enjoying it.

John, that is indeed a strong testament to the previous owner's commitment, and no doubt it is a strong reflection on you that you continue to keep it in that same pristine condition.

I am always eager to read your tips & techniques to detailing/care of our cars.......you should write a "how-to" book. I had a red car once and it was (for me) a difficult colour to maintain as well !

The cover of the 1970 Mercedes-Benz Full-Line Product Brochure featured a beautiful metallic red 280 SL.  I've never seen this color -- has anybody else?

Actually, that is the color of my car with a parchment interior (1968 Euro 280 SL).  Not too many with this color combination and it evokes srtong feelings one way or the other as to whether people like it. The original carpet was red with a blue soft top but the PO replaced both with shades of tan. Will add a couple pix when my car returns to me from getting the top half of the engine rebuilt......
