1966 230sl turn signal switch
« on: June 17, 2018, 16:25:49 »
I'm getting my car (1966 230sl) ready for summer and the turn signal has seen better days.  The plastic is falling apart because it is so brittle (from age I guess).  The best price I can find is $425 from Bud's but, it is a reproduction.  Does any have any experience with these repro's?  I sure don't want to spend over $800. for a factory part if this repro work just as well.
Thanks in advance

Hi, I got my from Niemöller in Germany a year ago for my 230
First one came with an issue ( wouldn't undo after the turn was completed) but they exchanged it quickly and with no hassle. Working fine.
Don't remember the exact price but somewhere in the 300+ euros.
Cheers

Hi,
I replaced my RHD 230sl indicator 3 mths ago $412 usd........had no problems.  I used a LHD unit down as they no longer produce RHD switches (so I was told). Just means the symbols for wipers ( I think) is upside down.  Also installed myself and with no problems.

Update on turn signal switch.  MB no longer has this part (per Classic Ctr and an MB dealer).  I had to order the only one I found from Bud's Benz.  It will arrive tomorrow so I'll fallow up.  I'm Keeping my fingers crossed.

I did install the After Mkt turn signal switch from Bud's Benz.  It is a little different from the original (Printed images on handle my original was blank).  It appears to work well (except speed of turn indicators, I'll check the relay).

I am not sure if speed of flashing depends on the kind of switch  you have... As posted above, it depends primarily on bulbs sum of wattage (as this determines the current flow and speed of relay operation). Your relay may be perfectly ok.
