Sticker Adhesive
« on: August 12, 2018, 17:37:17 »
I was recently given a used tire pressure sticker, in good condition, for my '71 280SL. Please advise on a simple but effective adhesive to apply the sticker to the center trunk lid.

In the past I've used an all purpose clear glue- not super glue - for a sticker application on my car.
It sticks to metal.

Here's the stuff I used, I'm sure you have something similar in the US.

This is what you need:

Leaves no residue and is instantly dry. its very good stuff.

Anyone have a picture of a properly located tire pressure sticker? It seems that it's in the center of the trunk lid, above the crossmember.

mgpcpa, the pictures below show the factory original placement.  I made these pictures a couple of years ago to show the factory paint runs on the trunk lid and not the sticker location. I am not with the car now so I can’t give you a better shot.

It is my impression that the location of factory stickers was not that precise.  In these pictures it looks a tad off center.

I hope this helps.

Depending on the year of your 280 you may have a different tire pressure label. If your car is a 1971 USA model it might have had a purple label.  If so these are still available new from Mercedes for about $11 -$15, depending on the dealer you buy from.  I know you have the label, but in case not correct for the year, you can get one with adhesive.

Part number:

113-584-00-39

250sl - later - manual
280sl - 1971 - Auto - LSD
