Spotted in Arundel
« on: August 16, 2018, 16:43:51 »
I was on vacation in the northeast last week to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday in Newport, RI.  Took a side trip to Kennebunkport, ME.  Got a bit lost one evening and was driving back to the hotel when I spotted what I thought were several pagodas parked along the highway.  The next day I returned to investigate only to discover that the cars were parked outside the SL-Tech shop in Arundel.  I pulled in and spoke with Gernold Nisius, whose name I had read many times on this site.  I have been meaning to order a set of his hood plate replacement brackets and so purchased them there.  It was nice to get first hand instructions for installation and to save the shipping cost.  Inside the shop the first thing I saw was a perfect 300 SL roadster that Gernold was working on for a customer in New Hampshire, along with several pagodas in various states of repair. Really wanted to take a few pics of the 300 but Gernold has a strict rule apparently against allowing photos of customer cars to be taken at the shop. A very happy accident, nonetheless.

Living here on Cape Cod, I have visited Gernold in Maine a few times. It's been a while though. He is extremely knowledgeable about SL's, and especially Pagodas. He's very helpful and loves to chat SL 113's. Great guy. Great resource. If you have a chance to visit his shop, do it!
