Evap tank fix.
« on: August 29, 2018, 02:57:13 »
The 70-71 US spec trunk mounted evaporative emissions tank is no longer available and mine had the small lines broken off and kinked right at the bottom of the tank. I had a spare to work with so I decided to try a fix. I turned a piece of brass to match the contours of the original heat sealing on the stubs and then I brazed it to an old pair of pliers.  I drilled out the old hose and then I heated the pliers up until they melted a sample of hose evenly a little squeeze and voilla!

Have a look at part #A1154710268. Mercedes Classic has just release a reproduced fuel system EVAP tank. Should be able to order thru any Mercedes dealer. Mercedes classic also lets you search for reproduced parts for older Mercedes

I think that is the smaller tank for everything but the 70-71 US spec cars.  I jus checked and it is also listed for my car.  I ordered it and hopefully it is the right tank.
