Asking for Pics of 387 H and 396 G please
« on: September 14, 2018, 17:06:29 »
So I am two weeks from finally spraying my car and we (my wife and son who will probably own the car someday) keep changing our minds on the color. My original color is midnight Blue with parchment text. The car was resprayed before I bought it with a red very similar to the pagoda sitting in the background of the Hemmels video. We originally loved that color but my wife just doesn't like anything red now.

I would greatly appreciate any pics you have of 387 H - "blue" or 396 G - "Medium Blue". They are two of our finalists but I can't seem to find many pics of those colors.

I am hoping to go over all finalist colors with my son and wife on our TV this next week so I can get the Glasurit ordered (ouch!).

Thanks!

Not being much of a savant about the Pagoda details, i.e.: colors, I checked the Tech Manual and it seems there are pretty decent samples of both colors???

the samples in our Technical Manual are very good unless you are looking for good car photographs.

Dieter

PS. The 387 H is very very close to my 903 H, last year when I was part of the Mosel Tour in Germany I talked to a fellow driving a Pagoda with the 387 H color, we confirmed that once we examined the color plate mounted on the top of the left hand fender inside the engine bay, Ill try to find a photo I took of his car and if I find it will post it here.

I fond the two photos, the first one is when he entered the hotel parking lot, the second once I told him the color looks like mine, only to find out it was 387 H not 903 H

Nope, Dieter, ;)
That's a friend of Peter Huesgen, and his late 250 SL, extremely original BTW,  is clearly not metallic. :o
That's 903 or a preecessor color therof, most likely 335. :D
He needs to check again but that _is not_ 387H.
 ;)

Achim,

I know he is a friend of Peter, as for the color I stand to be corrected as far as the number is concerned, anyway, the color looked very much like mine. Let us know what you find out. Thanks.

No idea what this color is. You may want to ask the seller, however, as it is repainted, it is probably a moot issue.

I like the idea of metalic.

It almost looks like the pics of 387h and 398g in the tech manual are switched when compared to their color patches.

Is 396 G a rare color? I only get one hit on it when I search the Forum.

Hi John,

Here are two pictures taken inside a parking house, still shows the colour pretty well even if light is artificial.

I previously had a 1971 280 SL in the same colour, as well as a 3.5 Coupe and a 6.3
so I obviously strongly agree with your last comment. :-)
Come to think of it i also briefly had a nice early 107 350 SL in 387 from 1972 the last year 387 was offered by MB.

I also like the fact that the official name of it is plain Blue metallic, nothing fancy and ridiculous like todays colour names invented by clever marketing people.

Hans

Thanks Hans these are great pics. Am I correct in that it has a slight slate-gray tint to it?
