Soft (hard) top handles
« on: September 19, 2018, 21:46:29 »
I just purchased a pair of one piece handles for my 250 SL (I have been pondering this for a long while). They show up and I try to install. Turns out the barrel (that fits into the top frame) is 2mm too large! Also, the barrel of the ones currently in the car have been ground down to have a bevel from front to year.  The one-piece items that I purchased do not.
From what I have learned from checking the sizes on some friends cars here in SoCal, is that their one-piece and two-piece handles are all the same for the barrel diameter (26mm) and have the bevel ground in.

Are these from a 111/112 early version cabriolet??

Jon,

Since you are on the road I thought I would post your picture of your handles.  Hopefully it will help get your question answered👍

Although,  the picture doesn't show the underside which is the big question 😣

Here are some pictures, albeit of the removable handle version for our W113

The pair that Jon bought are not bevelled and the cylinder is a bit taller.  As he stated they are also 2mm larger in diameter than the pagoda handles.

Maybe he can post a better pic.
