Lubricants

Is there a recommended/suggested lubricant for the door locks (the rube-goldberg bit on the door itself)?
Also, one for the window channels / regulator?

For applications like these, always use M-B roof hatch grease (Gleitpaste). This has excellent long life properties, and most important, it does not over time degrade plastic or rubber parts.

Seems like my locks were dunked in a pail of treacle-like grease.
Just gelled up in this cold weather!!

Naj,
You can get "white" grease in spray cans these days, it's pretty good for getting at components in awful positions
Most good motor factors(Partco etc) have it

And what about the seat position adjustment rails,lots of opportunity for dust, sand etc to gum up the works.Is dry grease the go here or is Gleitpaste good here too.
I have advice to use an aerosol lubricant containing teflon in these dusty locations, but do they need to be applied constantly.

I hope you don't mean the tumblers themselves (the bit into which you insert the key). The only lubricant there is strictly graphite powder...

The roof hatch grease (Gleitpaste) is great for this application. Use sparingly.

This is true for ignition and glove compartment locks. But for doors and trunk, when there is frost it is vital to keep water out from inside the tumblers - use motor oil or roof hatch grease.
