fuel pump for mercedes 220 se

Hi, my fuel pump model : bosch early, does not work. I found this pump for my mercedes 220 se , but I don't know if it is good, in particular if it is a good substitude because it is very different. Can you help me?

I assume that as your car is a 220SE it has fuel injection.

yes my car has the fuel injection, mechanical injection. I know that the original pump works to 1,3 atm of pressure and 240 litre/hours of quantity flow, so the pump in the image is a volumetric pump and has  very different features, but i don't know these yet.  Do you know? thank you

Peter, the pictured pump in your post will not work. The pump application is a mistake, it is for a  carbureted engine like a 220S not SE.

I assume you have a W111/220SE with a M127 R6 engine with injection pump more or less same as 230SL except cylinder capacity.
An alternative pump could be the Pierburg E1F (7.21440.78.0) , see https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=26122.msg187181#msg187181.

I have buy the pump in the image, but it has a pressure very high. Can i use a pressure regulator to have in outlet the pressure desidered ? if so. which one?

Hi,
the Pierburg pump I mentioned is approved by members of German Pagoda forum and works fine: https://www.pagodentreff.de/diskussionsforum/threads/ersatzbenzinpumpe-von-pierburg.4661/. Even the Pierburg pump you refered first is mentioned, looks like a mechanical pump.
Critical is more the pressure of the pump (~ 1 bar) than the fuel quantity.

Regarding your Bosch alternatives why not pick the one above your highlighted choice which flows 207 L/H at 3 Bar ?

This is the relevant extract from the other post I referred to earlier

"This pump:
Pierburg 7.21287.53.0

This regulator:
Bosch 0 280 160 001

Mount both on a bracket in the original pump location so the pump cover covers it then route the return line into the fuel pump cover to the side port on the regulator.  The bottom port with the threads is the outlet back to the tank.  If you mount the regulator on it's side with the inlet facing down it will act as a small accumulator to allow some leakage from the check valve or injectors.  connect a gauge where the cold start line connects to the fuel hose assy and set the regulator to 1.5 bar.  Problem solved. If not I would creep up to 2 bar."

I think the basic way this solution works is that you start with the regulator fully open and then adjust it (to increase back pressure) to give you a pressure of approx 1.5Barg into the fuel injection pump. This is higher than recommended in the Mercedes manual but people on the German forums also seem to feel this is beneficial.

I have attached the pump curves from the Pierburg brochure

Curve 2 is for the pump suggested which means that with the regulator set to deliver 1.5 Barg at the fuel injection pump the suggested pump will deliver approx 140 litres/hour. In reality it will be a bit less as the delivery pressure of the pump will be slightly higher than 1.5 Barg to account for the pressure drop in the supply line and across the fuel filter in the engine bay.

Curve 3 is for the larger pumps which will deliver more flow at this pressure, approx 200 lites/hour.

Note that the pressure regulator is used to increase the pressure in the system and not decrease it. These pumps are capable of delivering a higher pressure but would not do so unless a blockage or restriction occurred.

Note : This is my understanding of the system. Far more experienced posters might want to chime in before you implement anything.
