Ah yes, the 407 - Canada's only toll road that's owned by a Spanish company.
What is it with
Spanish companies and
North American roads and tolls? We have the 407 controlled by
Ferrovial, and the toll section of I77 in the Charlotte NC area built and controlled by
Cintra, the latter with variable tolls depending on time and congestion. Add to the mix
Dragados which has done the Autoroute 30 in Montreal and the I595 corridor in Miami. Then, the
Enovis division of
Abertis does the tolls on the Blue Water Bridge (Ontario-Michigan), as well as others in Canada and the Newport RI bridge too. The only reason Abertis doesn't have more is that they've lost bids to the others!
The Spaniards must have figured out something that nobody else has...so where are the US and Canadian companies?
