A birthday present for my wonderful wife who suffers with my obsession for cars.

I always told my wife i had bought the Pagoda for her but she has never believed me.  I guess it was the chain saw i got her the year before for her birthday that probably spoilt the effect of the present.

Nice thought though. Welcome.

She actually has driven it - not quite as many times as I have but I suspect that will change in the Spring...  :-)  I am looking to find some W11* (or just older Merc) connections here in my area which is Charlotte or central NC.  I have a LOT of questions about the car and hope to spend some of the winter months replacing old and worn parts as well as completing a general but thorough detailing.  Is this the section where I should post general updates on progress and ask questions as I go along?

OH!  my manners are slipping.  We just got back from a trip to Austria, Hungary and Germany and our Pagoda World and welcome package was here waiting.  Thank you Rolf-Dieter and the whole group..

Hi Russell, and welcome. Where you are, is the weather suitable to drive the car year round, or do you put it away for a few months?

I'm not getting my wife anything for her birthday this year. Last year I bought her a cemetery plot and she didn't even use it. So much for generosity.......... ;D

PJ - yes, with a roof and heat it is...   but I/we don't get them out as much from November to April..

I looked at the member list and there's only 1 close and I know where it's stored.  This is NASCAR country so there's more focus on muscle cars and old American iron...  I've run into a few but unfortunately didn't get contact info..

Hi Russell,

Here in Raleigh/Durham we have a few good shops and mechanics with lots of expertise on our cars.  About a 2 1/2 hr drive from you.  PM me if you need any assistance.

But without kidding... take him along to the PagodaFest San Diego event. He might even start liking it... My wife loves the European Events -- and happily went to Pub Virginia in 2017. Perhaps she likes the European Events a little too much  ;) Ask any attendee who tends to stay until bar closing time!
