Master cylinder brake fluid reservoir sensor

Hi all

Restoring my 69 280sl 4 speed and going through what needs to be ordered. I have found the rubber seals on the sensor floats where the pin goes through in  the reservoir to be disintegrating and wondered if they are replaceable as the rest of the reservoir parts are ok. Looks like I could order the sensor float assembly from Vintage Euro Parts USA if not. Has anyone used these successfully please?

Below you have the parts shown.

Not sure, if you meant 170 (A0004310062), it is NLA.
169 - seal, available in MB.
168 - cap, available in MB.
167 - seal, part of 168, NLA separately.

 Looks like the part is not listed on the picture. It is the rubber grommet which fastens to the sensor float where the pin pushes into it. I will order the float assemblies from MB if I can.

afaik these rubber seals belong to the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir sensor and are not available on it's own.

If you look at this photo you can see black residue where the pin goes into the float. I assumed this  was originally a black rubber seal that had been affected by years of being exposed to the brake fluid. Either that or it is some kind of grease?

Mine have perished too, as I have discovered during a MC replacement.

I am hopping that the sensor will still function correctly when it’s all back together without the seals.

I am probably being a little optimistic but fingers crossed.

Not a seal, but indeed a rubber piece joining the pin to the plastic float. Like a short length of hose, that in the middle has small dia to grab the metal pin.
The part is today re-designed, pin is plastic and an integral part of the float.

ok great thanks for clarifying. I may just try to repair them with glue and see if they work ok. If not I will order the float assembly from MB.
