Stressful Pagoda Day

Had a good day but very stressful day with my 230.
I had to drill holes for the side chrome trim and a few for the lower aluminum trim pieces.

How does the old saying go measure twice and drill once.  More like measure 10 times drill once.

Just a little stressful drilling into a fresh paint job.

Normally the holes are done before paint. Be sure to touch up each hole so rust will not start on the bare metal after drilling! correct hole size is critical so that the plastic clips work correctly. Use the correct metric drill bit or match up with a correct "letter size drill bit".

Thank you for the advise. I did do what you suggested. I primed and painted the raw metal before fitting the plastic fasteners and screws for the chrome. I was also very careful to measure the few holes I had for the aluminum trim before drilling.   As you stated, I should have had this done before paint but this was missed during the body work stage.

Thanks again for your knowledge. Your posts have been very helpful to me during my restoration process.

If it makes you feel any better on one of my pagodas I don't know what happened but I actually welded up some holes I needed, I filled and sanded them and everything then realized after paint I needed them and couldn't even find indents because I had done such a good job.
