W108 Parts Catalog

I have a model 108 parts catalog "A", 1970 edition which has images but no part-numbers.
I assume - correct me if I am wrong - there is a matching catalog "B" which has the corresponding part-numbers.
Does anybody have one for sale (or wants to give one away...)?

Mike,

It appears that you have the owner's parts manual, which came with the cars when new. The dealer manuals, larger versions of the same, had the factory  parts numbers. The editions A, B, C etc. were later publications of the same except with current updates on changes during production. So edition B of your owner's parts manual would not have factory parts numbers either. You would want a dealer's parts manual to get the factory parts numbers. The latest edition, probably "E" would have all the part numbers for changes and modifications for the whole production of that model. Try this web site to look-up factory parts numbers for many different models....

The parts manuals for the cars of that era , the small ones for the glove box, will start with 12XXX (the XXX being the specific catalog). The dealer parts books that Joe is mentioning will start with 10XXX (the XXX would correspond with the small book). There is a description of the parts books for the 113 in Pagoda Notes. See Pagoda Notes Vol 2, no 3 & 4. Available to full members. Go to the technical manual and scroll down to the "Premium Content" there you will see the listing for Pagoda Notes back issues.

Thanks guys! I am not looking for a Pagoda book. I am looking for a catalog that will give me part-numbers for the 108 (models 250S through 280SEL) catalog that I have, which only shows pictures with numbered parts. Catalog number is 12 800. It says Catalog "A" 1970 U.S. Version on the cover

Mike, to get the book to match the small parts book, you would be looking for book no 10800. If you are interested I happen to have parts book 10141 - Edition B as of January 1968 (250S, 250 SE, 280S, 280SE, 300 SEb) send PM

They know you aren't looking for a Pagoda book and that you want a parts catalog for a W108.   The reference to the Pagoda website is so you will understand the kinds of books that exist.  You have the glovebox parts picture book.  There is no corresponding book to that that is the same size and provides the parts numbers.  Instead there is a larger Dealer Parts Book which looks like a giant version of the thing in your glovebox but has more pages because it lists all the part numbers corresponding to images.  Those are rare.

The reason they provide the booklet is so you can refer to a picture number and a part with a little number next to it when you are talking to the dealer.

Sounds very similar to the story I was told once:

The woman pulls into the Mercedes dealership with her car and proceeds to the parts counter....
"I need a new 710 cap for my car. It came off"
Parts guy:
"Sorry M'am, Don't know what you mean"
After more discussion leading nowhere, the guy hands her a sheet of paper and a pen..
"Can you draw a picture of what it looke like?"

The woman gives it a try and comes up with that:

Think back to the 60s and 70s.  Things are dealerships were different.  People didn't know part numbers.  This is also a time when Pagoda owners took there car to the dealer to have the hardtop stored for the summer....   different times.
