Fuel injectors early type vs. late type

Will the late type Fuel injectors work ok in an early 230sl. Early type #A000 078 0723, #on the injector DC8C45R1. Later type #A000 078 1123,#on the injector DC8C45R2. Is there any consequences if I use the later type?

Yes, you can install Bosch "R2" injectors in your Pagoda engine
As far as I know, the "R1" is no longer available.
Mercedes as a matter of fact do state that you should
not
mix R1 and R2 injectors in one engine

Well Hans, you surprised me there.
Due to their very different size and shape I did not think it was an option.
I shall bear it in mind if I come across a set for sale.

Hi,
the R1 injectors have been replaced by R2 injectors, R1s are no longer available. They are more or less the same, afaik a slightly different spray angle.
As Hans mentioned only one type should be used, no mixing of both.

I have just bought a set of 6 brand new bosch injectors and the car run terribly. No idle , no acceleration and huge smoke.
I will put back the old one but honesty how is possible that a new injectors fail so badly? Maybe they are fake bosch?
