Well, I installed the electronic ignition, changed the coil to the recommended coil, changed and gapped plugs5 thou more and installed new spark plug wiring - could not get car to idle well , but reved fine. Noticed that I may have chipped the magnet (1864) so changed back to points, while I try to order a new part. Need to get car running so I can get it to the body shop. My question(s) - 1. I reinstalled the points and resistor, but not the plug wires, plugs and coil.
Car started fine, and idles well, If i leave everthing as is, will the points burn out and will I damage anything else?
2. On the coil side, postion 1, goes to the points and I had a green/black wire on it also. seems to make no difference if it on or not.
