front exhaust pipes
« on: March 26, 2019, 18:21:39 »
I'm looking for front exhaust pipes late style. Prefer original but will also look at aftermarket.

Dan, probably it is of no help really, but I ordered with MB dealer the front exhaust about a year ago for my 280SL. The dealer says it should arrive any day now. It was not there at that time but it looks like maybe it is available soon. Will cost a fortune, I am sure. I thought you might want to check it.

Similarly the end muffler for my 190SL - I ordred 2 years ago with MB, it arrived last month. Not expensive, actually... about $250.

There are aftermarket pipes available but no one seems to have any factory pipes and I'm getting no assurance that they ever will.

Buds Benz, sells both early and late models   G231-001a and later. $295
its a shame as  Pelican parts sells Pagoda parts as well and muflers ,but not front pipes,
I know as the muflers are very good made by Anza ,and fit perfect, and have a nice sound,
and i threw one in the trunk in California before my 230 SL was shipped.--$215.

We put a used MB part on my car since they were NLA thru MB.

The stainless steel type expand with heat, they get longer!

Dan,
Are you referring to the downpipes after the manifolds?
I have them as one piece all the way to the joint under the passenger floor from a 1966 230SL.

Any interest?

Yes. I need the late style up to the center muffler. I have everything else, just need the front down pipes.

Unless they came out with something different later, the original MB exhausts were welded together. When I had mine replaced last time, they were tagged off the car on a gauge and then finish welded after they were hung up on the vehicle.
