Cylinder head assembly for a 230sl
« on: April 29, 2019, 18:12:27 »
Hello All,
I am in search of a rebuildable cylinder head assembly for a 230sl.  (Including vales, cam…..)
Aside from money, I have a fully operational W113 automatic transmission or a complete 250 sl cylider head as trade ins.

May be I get lucky.

Those heads are interchangeable. Why are you not using the 250 head?

Thank you, I know. My car (230) when I bought it had a complete 250 drivetrain in it. My plan is to bring it all back to 230 components if I can find (reasonably priced) replacements.
Have a motor and a pump that's why I am looking for the head. The 250 head will be plan "B".

That's kind of funny. When I bought my car 25 years ago, I was very happy to find that it had already had a 250 engine in it which in my opinion may be the best engine of the three. More power than a 230, has 7 main bearings, runs cooler than a 280, and uses far less fuel than a 280.

You are probably right. As a matter of fact, I went to talk to Metric Motors and he told me the same thing. I am starting to loose faith in my theory that everything should be as original as possible.

I understand those sentiments. If I had a perfect original car that had never been touched, then I'd be very anal about everything. My car is a long ways from that and I've used it as my mule to test new ideas I came up with. So far everything is still working.
