Star washer from window regulator kit?
« on: May 09, 2019, 20:16:42 »
I need a new star washer for my window regulator kit.  If I buy the a complete window regulator kit from MB it's $32.50.  They have the star washer separately for $26  :o :o :o

Does anybody know of a better source for the star washer to buy separately for a decent price?  Else I'm coughing up for a full regulator kit.

See photo for star washer.

Seems like McMaster Carr or Fastenal have a whole range of star washers. Fastenal are bronze, and I did not look at the sizes. McMaster has all sorts.

A better description is a star spring washer.  It must provide tension. I will have a look at the websites suggested.

66andblue says he might have an extra one👍

Quite common on most MB car window assemblies. I have lots, if you still need some.

Just curious about this and not familiar with the kit. In the picture, I see two washers. One is an external tooth lock washer for a flat or oval head screw. This screw has a 90* underside as you know. So the purpose of that lock washer is to fit in the 90* counter bore that seats the flat or oval head screw and keeps it from getting loose.

The other is a spring or wave washer. Its purpose is to provide tension on an assembly when compressed and secured. So I am confused on which one was needed. thanks.

I was told this is a generic window regulator kit.  Its for multiple MB models. Not all parts are used for the 113.

In the below picture I have circled the parts used in the 113 (that I know of ).

It's hard to see in the picture but the star washer is not flat.  The  external projections bend up and have a spring effect providing tension.  So it's a spring/star combo washer.

The parts circled are for connecting the sliding arm to the bracket just under the window.

Thanks for the pictures. With the close up from Sead, you can see that the star washer is NOT an external lock washer for flat head screws. It looks very close to that and that is a common hardware item. https://www.mcmaster.com/90069a125

I can see now that the star washer is has fingers around that provide an upward spring force, sort of like the fingers on the clutch pressure plate What was confusing to me was that there is also a spring wave washer in the same picture. My mistake and you learn something new everyday.

And I doubt you would find that special star washer outside of MB, as it appears to have a special application.

This is strictly a Mercedes part (p/n 000 990 05 48), none of the standard external lock washers sold by McMaster or by Belmetric or Maryland Metric will fit. The distance between the "spider legs" must fit the pattern of the plastic glide as shown in Sead's photo.
There are two per door, but one (# 61) usually does not need replacement.
