Bent pedal linkage flange?
« on: May 10, 2019, 00:28:03 »
I've gone through the linkage adjustment procedure several times and my car idles well, but the accelerator pedal is vertical at idle and I can't push it down far enough to activate the kick down switch.  I've adjusted the 13 mm bolt as far as possible in an attempt to correct this, but I beiieve I have found the flange is bent, which prohibits proper adjustment.  Can someone please comment about the attached photo of the flange?  Is this correct or bent?

I note the radius' are different on each side of the flange, which seems unusual.

If the flange has indeed been bent, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to bend it back?

Thanks for your advice,

Bob

Scroll down in this section and look for the recent topic "Throttle Linkage Dilemma" where you will find several close-ups of this flange on a couple of different cars. Compare and judge for yourself if you think your flange might be bent.  It should be possible to bend the flange but this might involve disconnecting and removing the throttle bar from the firewall and carefully correcting just the flange itself in a bench vise.
