First Pagoda Project - Rebuild The Automatic Shifter Mechanism

Within 10 minutes of rolling my Pagoda off the trailer last week the shift rod fell off the transmission arm leaving me with no way to shift the gears. After looking under the car it only took a few minutes to figure out to put the car in neutral.

I decided that rebuilding the shift mechanism would be my first project. Removing the shifter mechanism turned out to be pretty straightforward:



All 4 of the bearings were mostly or completely disintegrated, the shifter boot was torn and the Auto Shiftgate Insert was partially broken.

Here is a list of parts that I think I need to complete this project:

2ea Linkage Bushing p/n 112 268 01 50

2ea Bearing Bushing p/n 112 267 00 50

1ea Auto Shiftgate Insert (reproduction)

1ea Automatic Transmission Shifter Boot (reproduction)

Can anyone make suggestions on where to purchase the last 2 parts?

Is there any other maintenance that should be done while I have the shifter out and apart?

Looks like a easy project at first glance, but it can get confusing. Be sure to mark and photograph as you dis-assemble.

I recently rebuilt mine and take care to note the arm position vis a vis the spring.  The shift arm has a straight cut that fits alongside the spring so the lever is pulled to the left.  It took me a few frustrating attempts to get this right. 

I was able to get parts at Bud's Benz near Atlanta.
