230SL Turn Indicator Multi-Function Switch
« on: August 02, 2019, 21:38:27 »
I'm looking for new or rebuilt turn signal switch ("early style" switch) for my 1967 230SL.  The switch for 250SLs and 280SLs are not intererchangable with the "early style" switches.  Would also consider a non-functioning "early style" switch with parts that I could use to rebuild my own.  Thanks.  Also, any information from members regarding this subject would be of interest to other 230SL owners in need of a turn signal switch.

http://www.pagodenteile.de/1.htm

Pagodenteile (regrettably a bit of a terrible website) sells Blinkerschalter € 285,- - € 288,-

Thank you, Peter, for your assistance.
Although I do not speak much German, I believe this is the turn signal indicator I need, and it looks like it is not available on the website.  Is this correct?

Kfc... Klc,

Yes, that's what the website of Thomas Koellner says,
they are currently NLA.

It appears to me as if the early style turn signal switch of the 230/250 SL (A001 545 5524) is currently nowhere available, at least not officially.
What's wrong with yours? It doesn't hold the left or right turnsignal side anymore or what is wrong? Can't it be somehow fixed or could you somehow live with it - at least for the time being??

No, Michael. The 220 SE turnsignal switch is completely different from its mechanical side. Much simpler and doesn't have the wiper/washer function that the Pagoda switches have.
Not interchangeable with any other MB part, also not with the 250 SE/300 SE (early) W108/111/109 part, which looks almost quite identical but really isn't. Also not from its function.
So, no easy swap possible.

Only help is
1) repair yours
2) take another 230/280 SL switch as (spare)parts donor and make two out of one
3) wait until the repro switches from China/Taiwan come up again (hopefully sometime soon)
4) wait until MB has them on offer again (hopefully sometime soon)
or
5) be patient and look further for a good/decent used or NOS one.

It helps to ask any shop dealing with our cars you can think of.

Good luck.... ???
