Gotta wonder how it handles!

Check out this '69 280 on ebay.  It has me wondering about it's roadability.  While you're there take a look at the ventilation levers.  Could it be correct?  4530003132

Well ... extremely wide (225) tires on ugly wheels. I would guess the car should be able to hold the road o.k. though. The ventilation levers look like they are very brightly colored, while the ones in my car (also a '69 280 SL) are black.
With $50,000 in restoration receipts there is a chance that this could be not the worst buy, so long as you replace those wheels!

I believe the heater levers are the early style found on 230 SLs.

I always wonder about things like "clock doesn't work all the time" he must mean that it only works twice a day.

Unrelated to this car, but here's a tip when refering the group to a car or item on Ebay.

When at the Ebay listing, go to the URL address bar at the top and highlight all of the address.  Then press the CTRL key and while holding this key, press the C key.  This will copy the address into the computer memory.  Then come back to this site and in the posting window, press CTRL and while holding the CTRL key, press V.  This will paste the address into the listing.

Following this procedure will allow a user to click on the ebay address from this site and go directly to the item.  example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4530003132

Hope this helps everyone.

Best,

Tom

The ventilation/heater levers on my 65 230sl are the same colored ones.  Actually my clock only works sporatically as well. For some reason, I'll see it work and then stop at other times.

Eryck,
It maybe a poor electrical connection.

The heater levers on the 230 and early 250sls are different to the heater levers on the later 250sl and the 280sl.

My wife recently picked up an old schoolhouse clock at a flea market.  It was running when she spotted it but when she got it home it was missing the wind-up key.  So now it is accurate twice daily!  :^)
