Body number on hood
« on: February 22, 2005, 16:36:13 »
I cant find one, I have looked all over, especially the left hand (drivers side) edge near the rear (fire wall). If I am not overlooking it, does this mean a non MB hood may have been used at some time in the past? Did anyone other than MB make hood panels?

Thanks for your help

Replacement hoods would not have a number stamped in the corner.  Chances are your hood has been replaced at some point.

A less likely scenario is that the paint is so thick that you can't find it. That's how it is on mine and with careful inspection under certain lighting conditions, I can just barely tell that there is a number but can't be sure what number it is. Just a bad paint job on mine perhaps...

Or it could be the original hood, sanded, redone, etc, and the number was obliterated?
