speedo question
« on: October 22, 2019, 17:17:56 »
hello all, Palo Alto rebuilt my speedometer, tach, center cluster, and clock back in 2014,, the units have been working fine and they look great.  But I have noticed over the past couple of months that after sitting overnight or for a few hours, the speedometer needle won't move unless I tap the speedo glass with my finger tip - upon which it quickly rises to the correct speed.  Any idea what would cause the needle to bind like this? thanks,,,charles

lubricate the cable.

Disconnect and shoot some cable lube down it.

Hi Charles,

Sometimes the pin &  hand contact point  becomes sticky (corrosion product ?), especially if the car has not been used for a while, and the hand sticks to the pin - a tap then moves it.

It can be cleaned, but obviously requires some dismantling.

Keep well
