Pagoda buyer's guide on YouTube
« on: November 08, 2019, 03:59:09 »
Hi group! It's probably been many years since my last post, but thought I'd share a video that I made about Pagodas on YouTube. I figured I had all these photos from the many 113's I've had over the years, why not put together a buyer's guide so people know what to look for when buying one?

While it was mentioned about the reduced chrome finish during the 250 SL transition, the windshield header and interior A piller chrome elimination were not mentioned.  Maybe that's coming in part 2.

Nicely done.

Ditto to all the other glowing comments.  This group is truly blessed with so many knowledgeable people willing to share their expertise.  That rear mounted antenna “embellishment” is wild!

Good video Bob. It must have taken an awful long time to put that together.
There are some differences between US spec and Euro spec which perhaps you might want to mention so as not to have European buyers look for details that they won't find on European cars. The VIN tag is one example; they are always exclusively on the bulkhead in Euro cars.

Many thanks! Great job! I am looking for such guide  for the 190SL or R107. The 190SL or R107 are still on my list, but I do not have any idea how to recognize a good 190SL one  from a bad one?

I think the best thing for most people is simply to pay a specialist to do a PPI.

Great job on the videos Bob! Is there any way we can post these to the technical manual on our site? There are so many posts from individuals that are looking to buy one and these would be a great resource for them in their purchase.

Bob,

Second the praise from other members.  I especially appreciated the disambiguation around the fender notches, whose value as an indicator of fender originality has been overblown by BaT and others.  You mention that your first car was a French market car.  Did you keep the original taillamps with the amber backup lamps?  Looks like they didn't make it to the final restoration.  I have a French car and am trying to find an original lamp (already have found one).  There are so-so repros out there, but would prefer an original.

Look forward to part 2.

When I got that car it only had one of the original tail lights with the amber backup lens.  Had a hard time finding another, so replaced it with a US spec. I seem to recall selling the original on eBay.

For the Tech Manual, here's an updated link to the buyer's guide I posted on YouTube, the old link is no longer active.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLihgxPAE6TJ--Ow0jSA0X6p8CoeS4ddV_

I broke up the series into a 6 part playlist, from the previous 2 videos that were too long. Video quality was able to improve from SD to HD because of it.
