Hello,
I recently rebuilt/replaced the control unit/cables in my 1969 280SL, and found that this particular MBZ OE part to be very hard to source.
I ended up using a reproduction part sold by Buds' Benz.
You appear to have a 230SL?  Might check first to see if parts are interchangeable with 280SL (I know levers are different).
Since you have it apart, you might want to change out the cables as well; made a big difference.

We call those things '' pill bottles '' around here. They're also used on 108/109 cars but only on the right side controls. I save every one I can find but if they're not too hacked up you might be able to fix them with a bit of epoxy like JB Weld. I fix whatever I can and only replace them when they're too far gone.

Not all of the 108/109 parts interchange but anything is better than nothing at all.
