Head Bolts
« on: January 20, 2020, 13:28:20 »
Curious - the BBB shows a three stage tightening torque for head bolts, including the three/four smaller bolts at the front.  But it does not specify a lesser torque for those smaller bolts, i.e. all bolts complete at a cold torque of 58 ft-lbs.  That seems incorrect to me and I worry about stripping the smaller bolts?  Advice/experience appreciated.

I am sorry to respond here, I am not qualified to advise anything, but I am interested in the answer - I did this job on my car and would like to make sure I did it right.

I do not have my BBB at hand, but from the instructions I translated for my mechanic from BBB, I have that the bolts marked "a" (which is what I think you are referring to) on the picture we use the torque of 25Nm.

Is this correct?

Hi,
the torque instructions for 230/250 and 280 are slightly different, see att. pdf but Pawel is right.
